Further I Pad Thoughts

I continue my infatuation with the I Pad unchecked. It has become my information source throughout every day of the week. On days when I am away from home there is information constantly to hand; well providing there is 3G signal. In the early days of this infatuation the ability to take photos both normal and creative were, sadly, a point of excitement, no matter how much of a nerd I looked pointing it at this and that. However, the first flush of passion has ebbed a little on coming to grips with the what the cameras and apps can and cannot do. There was the realisation that my efforts were akin to using a point and shoot on full auto. It was time to revert to my faithful Sony A550 working in manual or aperture priority mode. A sudden realisation how far my journey has taken me as I now use the camera to make images based on my decisions rather than the camera.

In making those comments it does not lessen how important the I Pad is to my photographic life. The apps that provide me with essential planning information with a touch of a finger. The apps that help with ND Grad needs when in the field and the same with depth of field calculations. All I need now is to be able to estimate distances better!

I am writing this post on the WordPress app. I have magazines on it to read, books for reference, PDF files and entertainment, music, videos etc. Having joined Twitter today for no other reason than being able to follow photographers who inspire me adds another dimension. I have purchased a SD card reader adaptor which enables me to review images in the field, which is a great tool. It also means there are the favourite images I have taken always to hand if there is someone interested.

I am now in the position where it has become indispensable in a very short period of time. So time to close having written and published this post remotely.
