Granny Goes to Glastonbury

At my weekly photography club this week there was a talk by Ann Cook http://www.anncookphotos.co.uk entitled “Granny goes to Glastonbury”. To be honest I expected it to be images shot by of a woman of mature years finally doing Glastonbury. ( The reason for this perception was because a granny I know had actually done this a couple of years ago) How wrong my pereception turned out to be.

Ann Cook is a lady of mature years but so full of life with a great sense of humour, an excellent communicator and, most importantly, a class photographer. In the early days of the Glastonbury Festival Mike Eavis, the organiser, approached Ann’s camera club with an offer of tickets, He had seen images of the festival in the media but no one had given him prints.

Ann took up the offer along with three male club members. The male members ran into problems pointing there camera at people but Ann was in her element. This became a regular event for Ann since the early 90s and continues to be so today.

The hour and three quarters Ann spoke literally flew by. Her prints were great, covering the performers, the audience, the idiosyncrasies of the event, the kids and, inevitably, the mud. Ann’s presentation style is entertaining full of anecdotes and advice.

It proved to be a really good evening and I would recommend you check out Ann’s website.
